Wilco Track 9s: Outnumbering The Hits

Wilco has never been bashful about a liberal sprinkling of decidedly non-radio friendly songs on every one of their albums and at every one of their shows. In fact, they've been known to put the most interesting yet challenging song as the first track. We love that Chutzpa and had no trouble coming up with a list of killer track 9 songs from their catalogue. The challenge in fact was keeping the list tight and putting a lid on it.

While listening to their canon ad nauseum over the last couple weeks, we would all keep track of the songs that, when we heard them, would say something to the effect: "Damn, I forgot about this one.  This song is fricken' incredible.  Totally underrated Wilco song!"  The list is what you see here, a few from each album.

Make no mistake, many of these songs are beautiful and catchy; just more complex and less mainstream. Some are long form, others short and to the point, but all are cried out for at concerts for their ability to inspire-musically and lyrically. We just wished they were played a lot more!
