Wholehearted

Will Madcon Cross The Pond?

It's frustrating to be a fan of a band that almost no one in the Western Hemisphere has access to. Madcon has become a huge sensation in their home country of Norway, a few pockets of Europe and is climbing the charts in the UK but why are they not in the U.S. yet?

The African/Norwegian hip hop duo first caught our ear a year ago based on the strength of their album So Dark The Con Of Man with it's bust the charts re-make of Frankie Valli's "Beggin'". We were sure that Sony BMG would pick them up in the U.S. as they did in the UK but to date, no news.

The duo have just released their third album An InCONvenient Truth in Europe with lead single "Liar" climbing the charts. As much as I love that track, it is "Wholehearted" that I can't stop listening to.

We'll say it again here; we think these guys are the next big thing, in a Gnarls Barkley kind of way. Few acts can really cross over from Hip Hop into mainstream and still keep an edge but Madcon's formula of sixties soul tinged melodies has got the goods. On this track they manage to weave in a latin/reggae vibe on top of the soul on top of the rap. It's a triple decker!

Someone better sign these guys or we are going to be forced to start a record label...

(Amazon does have the new album as an import for $33.00.)
