This Is The Thing

I'm finally catching up with the new season of Friday Night Lights. Even though it's been running on Direct TV since the fall, the 3rd season just returned to NBC last week and you can watch full episodes on line at NBC.com.

In addition to being one of the best shows on TV (that always seems to be a nano-second away from cancellation), the music selections are outstanding. They are always pitch perfect for the scenes; eclectic and surprising across a wide range of musical genres.  In the second episode of the new season, this is the song that hit me over the head. I won't spoil it for you, but it plays at a very emotional moment, as Matt borrows Landry's car to drive out and pay a visit to his estranged mother. I thought it might be a new song from Jose Gonzalez but I was wrong!

Fink is a British artist who made the unlikely transition from techno trip hop music to acoustic guitar driven singer-songwriter. What he left in the dust is our gain:
