Imagine

I was particularly devastated by the attacks on Mumbai yesterday, not only for the inhumanity of it but for it's ability to so quickly reinstate fear in all of us.

I have stayed at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai. I spent 4 wonderful nights there a few years ago. I swam in the pool, had lunch under the veranda, shopped in their shops, had drinks in the lobby. It's a gorgeous hotel. It was a wonderful treat. My room had a view of the ocean and The Gateway To India. I can smell the place now as I think about it; see it in my mind's eye and my heart goes out to anyone who is still in danger there or worse; being held hostage.

Deepak Chopra was on Larry King last night, really riled up, reminding us all that this is not just about targeting westerners, it's a global problem and we have to stop calling it a "war" on terror. We have to stop using war. Period.

I have posted a few pictures that I took during my stay at the Taj. One I took from my room of "the gate", the second is of the lobby veranda looking out to the pool. They are serving as a reminder. It could have been me. It could have been any of us.

In addition to giving thanks today, maybe we can all say a few extra prayers for religious peace in the world.
