Back To The Future On The Cusp Of 2010.
It always happens in Mid-December. We get conflicted. Between looking back at the year in music at the same time that we start to get excited about the year ahead.
But in the case of Mumford & Sons, we're doing both. The band's debut album came blistering onto the charts in the UK in October- and if it were more widely available it would be on our 'Best Albums of 2009' list. The U.S. release was just formally announced as March 2nd, 2010 on (Glassnotes Records) making it a very early contender for a best of 2010!
This puts us ahead of the curve but behind the eight ball. (God, the metaphors!)
Thankfully, this lead single is available in the U.S. on iTunes , Amazon and Lala, qualifying it for our 'Best Songs of 2009'.
I love this band's sound. It's so unexpected. British blue grass/folk? It's soft and aggressive at the same time and at moments, dare I say, Markus Mumford's voice holds the romantic underpinnings of early Dave Matthews.
Mumford & Sons are one of the hottest under the radar bands in the world right now- on a revved up version of The Avett Brothers track to fame.
You can hear a few more tracks on the band's MySpace Page.
