Forty Four Free Songs, One At A Time
That's a bit like being paper cut to death, perhaps in a good way, if you are a big Smashing Pumpkins fan.
It was supposed to start around Halloween, though truthfully, I doubt anyone cares about the "pumpkin" reference, it's really just Billy Corgan these days, now isn't it? It's six week late but the first track off the Smashing Pumpkin's new 'project' (I can't really call it an album) has begun with "Song For A Son", a nice sentiment about getting older and all that.
Forty three others will follow -all free -and all available on the band's Website.
I actually like this song a lot but I hate the mix. It feels like it was recorded in Corgan's basement with the vocals turned up too high (and too front and center), giving the song an unfinished feeling. That may be intentional but at this stage of their career, it somehow just sounds unprofessional. It literally makes me want to throw it onto Garage Band and tinker with it. My guess is someone will.
