Pure As The White Driven Snow.
As we slog and slush our way through December; debating and revisiting every CD that might become part of our 'Best of 2009' music list, this little sleeper crawls out of my iPod. Wow, was July only 5 months ago? I am transported back to summer, to the beach, to a nice warm breeze. It's like a daffodil poking it's head up out of the snowy ground.
What is it about Swedish dance pop? I can't get enough of it. It's so pure and light. I could listen to this song for days (or is it daze?). And since it's winter, I listen to it now with new ears. Now it's snow blowing on a cold sunny day with a fire roaring and leaves falling to the ground outside the window.
The debut album from this mysterious Swedish duo (next to nothing is known about them) was released this summer and is one of those 'little albums' that turns out to be not so little. The group's record label Sincerely Yours out of Gothenburg happens to have 3 of my favorite current artists- jj, Air France and Memory Tapes. I think they're onto something!
