Poised To Take On The World?

Local Natives are at the top of my list for 'the band most likely to break big in 2010'. The five piece group from Silver Lake, California just released their debut album in the UK on Rough Trade Records and plan a Feb, 2010 release in the U.S.

Since they first drew rave reviews last March at SXSW, they spent much of the summer touring abroad and are on tour now in the states thru Dec 10. supporting Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zero's and Fool's Gold.

Their sunny California folk pop is infused with layered vocal harmonies that call to mind Fleet Foxes and Band of Horses but with the percussion chops of newcomers White Rabbits. Add in some obvious nods to Talking Heads and The Beach Boys (particularly on this track!), and you've got a rich and complex sound that is surprisingly modern as opposed to just richly derivative.

Get ready for Local Natives! (the album is available as an import on Amazon)
