Erlend Oye : Every Party Has A Winner And A Loser

It's Geekend!
Today marks the kickoff of Geekend 2009 in beautiful Savannah, Ga.
I think the whole weekend is gonna be one gigantic party well disguised as an "Interactive Conference for geeks, designers, developers, techies and social media mavericks". (Seriously, the speaker line-up is mighty impressive!)
The MusicFile is providing part of the soundtrack for Geekend, in the form of some kick ass tunes in one of those mingling areas... so I've been thinking lots about what makes an artist geeky, and asking that age old question:
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the geekiest of them all?
Colin Meloy or Erlend Oye?
Katzenjammer or Brett Dennen?
Conor Oberst or Peelander-Z?
Andrew Bird or Beck?
The geekiest of musicians don't give a flying crap how geeky they are, which is what makes them so darn cool. It's hard to out-geek a Japanese action comic punk band ((Peelander-Z) or a violin playing, whistling, former Squirrel Nut Zipper (Andrew Bird)... but after hours and hours of deep thought, 'the geekiest of them all award' has to go to Bergen, Norway's Erlend Oye of Kings Of Convenience and The Whitest Boy Alive. (He gets extra geek points for being from Norway, for prolific multi-tasking and for overall outstanding visual geekiness.)
This track jumped out at me as THE perfect song to kick off Geekend, from Erlend's excellent 2003 Solo album Unrest.
No matter where you are this weekend, it's time to get your geek on!
