I'm In A New York State Of Mind!
On a day where The Yankees have a chance to clinch The World Series, I find myself nostalgic for The Big Apple. I am grateful to be living down here in beautiful Savannah, Ga for six months but on occasion I miss my city and my peeps so much it hurts! Today is one of those days when you just want to "be" in NYC.
Seems appropriate that the 3rd single off of Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 album officially came out this week with it's Yankee references scattered throughout:
"Catch me at the X with OG at a Yankee game,
shit I made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can,
you should know I bleed Blue"
OK Jay-Z, modest guy that you are. Although Pitchfork Media described the hooks in this song as "content to annoy their way to ubiquity", at this very moment I don't care. I like this song. I miss my city. And I am diggin the Alicia Keys chorus which on any other day, I might find, well, a tad bit overdone. Ya think?
