Secretly Addicted To Latin Pop.


Pop songs that would make my skin crawl in English somehow loose their ickiness in the hands of a Latin troubadour. While this doesn't apply to the likes of a Ricky Martin or Mark Antony (still icky!), it does apply to Alejandro Sanz, the Madrid born Latin superstar best known for his collaborations with Shakira.

Truth be told, I can only take all this passion and heart fluttering and drama in small doses- but having just competed a six hour iPod Mix for a Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, I now find that this Sanz track is THE song on that mix that stands up and commands attention every time it comes on.  The song was a  #1 hit in Spain and all of Latin America in 2006/2007 for good reason. I love Sanz's traditional Castillian lisp while Shakira's trembly, smoky voice only adds to the allure.

It makes me swoon, it makes me sway, it makes me feel all woozy and romantic....I love it!

Just don't tell anybody.
