Saturday Morning Flashback- 1971.
Can we just call this the summer of rain? I feel like Joe Btfsplk from the 1970's cartoon Li'l Abner. No matter where I go this summer, rain is following me...from the Northeast to the Midwest and now to the deep south.
The music world has been cursed too. All Points West Music Festival in New York was all but rained out the last weekend in July and Lollapalooza was a complete wash out last Friday.
And Savannah, Ga has had over 7 inches of rain since I returned in early August and we're only half way through the month. I'm talkin' hard rain. Thunderstorms, lightning, street flooding. Every day. What's a gal to do?
Stay home, put on Bill Withers and deal with it.
One of the best soul songs ever written from one of the best debut albums ever produced seems like the perfect Saturday Morning Flashback. (I know the song's not about rain but work with me here!) All those "Iknow,Iknow,Iknow's" stacked up like thunderclouds is one of the sweetest 30 seconds in music.
