Hot Day. Hotter Band


Day 2 of Lollapalooza 2009 had turned the torrential rains of Day 1  into caked mud, lots of sun and blistering temperatures with high humidity...a bit like a sauna and crowded as all hell. While the evening headliners left us a bit cool (Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and Tool), the band that absolutely stole ALL the shows yesterday was TV On The Radio.

As much as I have liked and admired TVOTR over the past several years, I was a little blown away at just how big and polished and accomplished they have become. They are one of those bands that are so much better live that you walk away wanting to immediately go home, put on their record and see if you somehow missed something. They've come a very long way since playing in those loft/rave clubs in Brooklyn where I first caught them back in '05.

As one of our Lolla gang said, "man, those guys are hot, hot, hot!"

This song was one of many standouts. In fact, I think the only time I stopped dancing for the full hour was to try and get some pictures (tomorrow!). Here's the full set list:
