Sharam : She Came Along (feat. Kid Cudi)
Saturday, July 25, 2009
Saturday Morning Flashback. Sorta.
The year was 1962. Patsy Cline releases her last album before her untimely death, Sentimentally Yours, with what was to become one of her most iconic songs, "Strange".
Flash forward to 2009 and Sharam, arguably the king of the Ibiza DJ scene, releases his album Get Wild with this track; the most inventive combination of country pop meets hip-hop the music world has ever heard. Sampling heavily from Cline's "Strange", Sharam infuses it with Kid Cudi's accessible roll off the tongue rap, turning the song into a modern day reinterpretation of the love triangle; one that will surely be wafting out of the clubs from Ibiza to The Hamptons this August.
Credit MusicFile friend and collaborator Stephan Heyliger from uPlaya for this one. He sent it in as his submission for best song of '09 so far. (It's also rumored to be one of Kanye West's favorites. Is Stephan hanging with Kanye? Or is that a typo?)
All I know is that the "Strange" world of hip hop just got a lot more Cudi.
