Squeeze : Pulling Muscles (From A Shell)
Saturday, July 11, 2009

Saturday Morning Flashback-1989.
Squeeze is one of those bands who didn't get famous until it was all over. Glen Tillbrook and Chris Difford were heralded as the heirs to the Lennon/McCartney songwriting throne but never quite got the recognition they deserved...until they disbanded and released this album of "hits", most of which no one had ever heard of.
I was one of those people who went nuts over Squeeze because of this album. It still ranks up there as one of my all time favorites. Perfect pop gems with intellectual lyrics and that catchy British New Wave beat.
Having just spent a great week at the beach with family members, this track seems like the perfect song to cap it off- it just screams summer with it's references to Harold Robbins paperbacks, surfer dudes and holidays. It reminds me of simpler times, when summers felt longer and lazier.
