Calexico Twitters. I Listen.
More and more bands have jumped on the Twitter bandwagon. Some are very good at it and some suck. But one I always look forward to is Calexico, aka casadecalexico on Twitter.
Calexico tweets fans to send in song requests for upcoming shows (upcoming Europe tour requests now, please!), asks for the best places to eat on tour, thanks friends and family who have taken them in in various cities, and basically talks candidly about life on the road. It gives you a great glimpse into who they are as people. Highly likable!
This morning's Tweet from the casa led to todays' song choice:
Great show last night in Atlanta, calexico played Skin, Is My and Sythian Empire w/ Bird.
Ok, now we're talking. Calexico is on tour right now with Andrew Bird, about the best 1-2 punch in music by my standards. I plan to go to the Radio City show in New York on 6/18 but hadn't heard whether they were collaborating on stage together or not. Now I know that they are and I am already imagining what this song might sound like with the trademark Calexico sound mixed in. It's one of my favorite Bird songs.
Perhaps they'll play it again. Perhaps they have a few more up their sleeve. Maybe I'll twitter them a few requests.
