Kermit Ruffins : Drop Me Off In New Orleans
Thursday, April 23, 2009

"All Aboard? This is Kermit Ruffins. We're in the backyard barbequeing right now, so leave a message".
Coming to you live from the Crown Room at terminal A in ATL, en route to the 40th Anniversary of The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
On tap for our first night is a trip to Vaughan's in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans to see Kermit Ruffins play. Ruffins has had a standing Thursday gig at this spot for 17 years. When he's in town, this is where you'll find him.
Ruffin's is best known for co-founding the Rebirth Brass Band back in 1983. He is one of the best Trumpet players in the world and can draw on influences ranging from Lois Armstrong to hip hop to barbeque, which is often smokin' at Vaughan's. Kermit loves to bar-b-que about as much as he loves to blow.
Can't think of a better way to kick off a weekend at JazzFest than this!
The next best thing to being there?
