I'm Dreaming of a White Easter!
I am in Colorado Springs, Colorado for a mini family reunion over the long Easter weekend. We are here to celebrate the plethora of April birthdays in our family, complete with my mother's 80th! The weather has been curious to say the least. Yesterday we experienced no less than 5 weather patterns, starting off with snow showers and changing to sun, then rain, then wind, then sun again, then clouds.
All of that pales in comparison to the snowstorm we woke up to this morning. It's 32 degrees and still coming down hard. The Easter Egg hunt has turned into Easter Baskets in the hotel room, courtesy of my sister in law who had hung them on our door by 8am. We are staying at the beautiful Broadmoor resort, a gi-normous monster of a place that recalls the robber baron years of the early 20th century...which feels a bit ironic in these economic times.
And so on a day when one normally runs around in the grass celebrating the onslaught of Spring and looking for cute bunnies, I am wishing I had a rabbit fur coat.
I love this Jenny Lewis song from her first solo album. It's about a completely dysfunctional family, an old mansion and of course, the aforementioned beloved rabbit fur coat.
Not your average Easter song but somehow apropos.
